My ideal job :D

Hello everyone!!! Today I'm going to talk about my ideal job as future midwife.
I would like to work in Santiago City because I believe that it’s easier for me especially in the first years of work.
I've always liked helping people and is for this reason I prefer the public system and for that I want to work in a public hospital, because I think that is the best way to give my help to the others. My other alternative is to work in a "consultorio" because I like very much this work system.
I intend to work in both places both in hospital and "consultorio", and I am aware that this work is very hard, because I will have to work almost all day, in the morning in the "consultorio" and rest of day in the hospital.
Respect to the position in my future work, I want only to dedicate to a my patients. Positions as for example, chief midwife, I would like to take them when I have more experience due to all the responsibilities that have a chief.
I like the Gynecology and the Obstetrics, so my patients would be pregnant women and women with gynecological problems.
I would like to work, for example, in Luis Tisné Hospital, because it has a very sophisticated structure and the environment is very pleasant, and also, develop my work within a multidisciplinary health team with differents health professionals

Painting: More than an art is true poetry...

Hello everyone!!! Today I'm going to talk about one of my favorite hobbies. Apart from the Midwifery, art is another of my passions, especially painting.
I was always good to draw, make models and paint. Honestly after to reach my dream to be midwife I think studying arts. For me, art has a special meaning, is the ability to create and this is what defines man as a human being.
Technically, the painting is defined as “the art of graphic representation using pigments mixed with other organic or synthetic substances. In this art of painting techniques are used and knowledge of color theory."
Within the painting the technique that I like most is oil on canvas, because is easier and this technique is confortable enough for me. I have no definite style, but I like to paint landscapes, I love giving movement to the trees, and the clouds, mixing the colors, etc...
My two favorite painters are Vincent Van Gogh and the Chilean painter Roberto Matta!

Vincent Van Gogh is my painter number one, he is one of the best representatives of impressionism and his paintings are too spectacular. I have painted several of his paintings, trying to imitate his perfectionism. In the above photo shows my favorite paint of Van Gogh painting done by myself, "Starry Night."
Roberto Matta, Chilean painter is a great and an excellent representative of Surrealism. The art of Matta is most philosophical than the art of Van Gogh. To understand his paintings not only have to look at them but find them a meaning. When I go to the "Museo de Bellas Artes", I spend hours admiring one of my favorite works of this great painter, "Open the bucket and find life", this work of art is truly spectacular.
Impressionism and Surrealism are very different because the impressionism is most real than the surrealism. In others words the impressionism tries to reflect reality in moving and the surrealism shows the most unknown of our dreams.

"The painter seeks to line and color, but its end is Poetry" (Harmenszoon Rembrandt van Rijn).

Education and Prevention in my Profession...

Hello everyone!!! Today I'm going to talk about the education and prevention in my profession.

The education is a very important area in the formation of a midwife because it is one of the professionals that promote health to a specific group.

The midwife is responsible for promoting health and quality of life of women throughout their life cycle through prevention, promotion, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. In this process includes family and to the community.
Also involved in promoting education and health in preschool, basic education, secundary and higher education.
Some of the ways of prevention and education that delivery the midwife are for example, talks topics about sex education to schools, workshops on breastfeeding in the "consultorio", education in the communities where there are problems in which the midwife can intervene, and also home visits to the mothers to educate about the care of the newborn. The most important for me is the transversal education that the midwife gives to the women during the prenatal controls or in the gynecological controls.
In my opinion the most important health topics in my profession, are care and warning signs during pregnancy, breastfeeding and the newborn care, the family planning, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases that directly affect women for example, the human papilloma virus and HIV and the promotion of the use of contraceptive methods as a means of prevention of unwanted pregnancies in adolescents of secundary education.
In our country it is important give a good education on the topics I mentioned, but I must emphasize that it is fundamental educate to the women about cervical cancer and breast cancer, because our country has a high mortality rate for these pathologies.

GENDER ROLE IN HEALTH CARE

Hello everyone, I'm going to talk about gender roles in my career, Midwifery.
In my career there is much difference between the number of men and women, although this situation has changed in recent times.
Socially midwifery is classified as a career for women only. In my view, society has a misconception about this, as most people think that the male-midwife is homosexual or entering the race to be close to women. I have three years in college, and my experience I can say that this situation is not so.
Frankly, I think few men enter really for vocation, there is a percentage that eventually acquires this vocation, but others come just to switch to medicine.
Now, as to the responsibilities of midwives, both men and women have the same powers to provide and deliver excellent care and also have the same capabilities to be for shift of the units, shift managers, etc.
On the occasions I have been in clinical field, our school teachers are assigned to men the most difficult patients, as older men that do not want to be cared by women.
I don't know how is this situation in our area specified performance.
Moreover, the professional development of male-midwife is excellent as the women, I have even heard that patients prefer the attention of the male-midwife.
Respect to the specialization area, I believe that male-midwifes prefer neonatology or gynecology.
For me, the differences between genders in midwifery are not important, the fundamental is the quality of care they provide to patients.
